In August 2023, California Forever, a corporation founded by Jan Sramek, announced plans to build a new city of up to 400,000 people in Solano County, forty miles northeast of San Francisco. Beginning in 2017, the company, funded by some of the deepest pockets in Silicon Valley, purchased 50,000 acres of land for an estimated $900 million.
